The restaurant is owned and managed by two very active local and involved culinary chefs Cara Luff and Hunter Chamness. The General Manager, Gabrielle Page, brings years of restaurant and service industry experience, and a wealth of knowledge with craft beers. Influenced by the emerging Vail Valley food scene and its move towards fine dining in a relaxed, less formal atmosphere, the two began discussing what is now Boxcar Restaurant.
Both Cara and Hunter have extensive culinary backgrounds that when combined creates one powerful culinary partnership. That notion of having the freedom and foresight to create amazing dishes in an inviting relaxed format was a dream for the both of them.
Now that dream is a reality they want to share with all of you!

Hunter has worked with chefs from all over the world including London, Seattle, & Denver.

Originally from the West Coast, Gabby is bringing a strong beer, wine and cocktail program for Boxcar.
